FAQ

Pilates is a fitness system that improves posture, flexibility and strength. It’s a balanced workout for the whole body, helping to relieve back pain, prevent injury and promote relaxation and stress reduction.

Joseph Pilates, born in Germany and naturalized American, lived from 1883 to 1967. Interned by the British during the First World War, he taught his method of exercise, which he called Contrology, to his fellow internees.

Pilates is for everyone! Whether you’re a beginner, an injured person or a seasoned athlete, Pilates is designed for all fitness levels and body types. Our highly qualified teachers will adapt to your needs.

We see the best results with customers who practice at least 2 times a week.

Absolutely, but please consult your doctor before starting a new exercise program in early recovery or during pregnancy. Pilates methods are recommended by physiotherapists, midwives, osteopaths and doctors to improve posture, correct imbalances and strengthen functional movement. One Pilates is recognized by many supplementary health insurance companies in Switzerland.

One Pilates teachers have undergone a comprehensive training program, including a 500-hour apprenticeship. Our studio is of the highest quality and is covered by your supplementary health insurance.

Please wear socks and close-fitting sportswear so that the instructor can see your body move. You can bring a bottle of water and a hair elastic if necessary.

Yoga is an ancient practice that includes physical postures, breathing exercises, relaxation, meditation and often explores ethical living and spirituality. Pilates is a modern system of effective body conditioning, aimed at realigning and connecting the body through conscious movement.

The main aim of Pilates is not to burn calories, but to train your body to move more powerfully. This change can have a transformational impact on your posture, movement, self-confidence and lifestyle, and will encourage you to move more.

Most people will derive similar benefits from both methods, as both will teach you to effectively use your core strength and strengthen your body’s core, which will translate into advantages in your daily activities or sports. While the exercises are similar on mats and equipment, the workouts are notably different.

Mat exercises use body weight only. Pilates machines have springs that add resistance and support, challenging the strong and strengthening the weak.
